Boys From The Blackstuff began life as an episode on the BBC's Play For Today which waited over a year to be broadcast (it was fimed in 1978). The storyline is tough times in Liverpool. One of the characters was spun off into The Muscle Market which was shown on Film 4 Today in 1981. The last 5 are the BBC television series of 1982. All were written by Alan Bleasdale.
