Parkin's Patch

Parkin's Patch was a cop drama from 1969 that takes place in the remote North York Moor. Starring John Flanagan as PC Moss Parkin with Gareth Thomas. Both of them later appeared in episodes of Heartbeat which was also a cop drama that took place in the late 60's in rural Yorkshire. Flanagan had a minor role in an episode of Lewis that was aired about 4 weeks ago.
With it's small cast each episode featured a larger cast of guest stars with a number of familiar faces and many others that went on to become so in the decades that followed. Michael Robbins, Hilda Braid, Warren Clarke, Glynn Edwards, Doreen Keogh, Jo Rowbottom, Pauline Collins, Joe Gladwin, Barbara New, Norman Eshley, Robin Parkinson, Michael Elphick, Bill Fraser, Arthur Brough, Peter Sallis, Glyn Owen.....come to mind.

Bomb Girls is a Canadian drama series about 4 women who work at a munitions plant during WWII. Wiki reports it will be returning in a year or so with 12 more episodes. Sounds similar to the  UK program Land Girls.

Since it takes Hollywood a few years to catch up with the rest of the world, I expect around 2015 it will be announced that there will be a US series called Rivet Girls about 4 women working at a shipyard during WWII. A pilot will be made but the series will never go into production after an advertising consultant informs the production company that 98% of Americans do not know what a rivet is.

The Beggar Bride
from IMDB: A chance meeting at the site of car accident gives Angela an idea how she can rescue herself and her family from destitution. Events really comes to a head when Harry is born and Honesty realises he will be the heir to the family fortune. The stakes are raised even higher when Angela starts to receive anonymous letters threatening to expose her lurid past. Finally, all hell breaks loose when Harry is kidnapped and the police become involved...

As one IMDB reviewer wrote, these shows were the grandfather of both the "Survivor" and "Junkyard Wars" type of shows.
They both pitted teams of very clever types against each other to overcome challenges under extremely trying conditions.
Now Get Out Of That is the complete show while there's not much detailed information available on The Great Egg Race and all I can say is here are 19 of the episodes from the late 70s / early 80s.

Game of Thrones, the medieval fantasy drama for the D&D crowd. This genre seems to be establishing a firm foothold in the industry, thanks to CGI. The medieval people in these shows all have dazzling bright white smiles of perfect teeth, flawless skin, expertly manicured nails, impeccably coiffed posh hair and adorned in the trendiest custom-made garments of the finest skins, furs and fine-woven fabrics. Ah, to the good old days.
