New Year - New Stuff

The end of the year and holiday season seems to bring several programs to a close and the beginning of a new year always seems to start of new shows or renew familiar ones.
For those of you outside the UK here's a little bit of what's going on.
It's January so that means Silent Witness is back....back for it's 16th series! 5 new 2-part episodes that will conclude 8 Feb.
Death In Paradise is back for a second series. 8 new episodes that will most likely end in late February.
Lewis is back for its final series of 6 episodes and will end 13 February. Look for it then unless you prefer to wait 6 months for PBS to air it.
Midsomer Murders is back airing 3 new episodes this month.
The second series of the Danish political drama Borgen is being aired with English subtitles. Hopefully someone is recording it.
I mentioned earlier that the sitcom Miranda has returned for a 3rd series as has the Irish sitcom Mrs. Brown's Boys.
If you enjoyed the comedy Pramface last year you'll be glad to know it's back with a second series.
Also back with another 10 episodes is Ruth Jones's Welsh comedy-drama Stella. It'll grind to a close in mid-March and then be returning with a Christmas special and a third series a year from now.
In Newfoundland, the popular private investigator comedy-drama Republic of Doyle is back for a 4th series which will end in early April.
A couple of new comedies are starting. One called Great Night Out and the other Blandings which is based on the writings of P.G. Wodehouse and stars Timothy Spall and Jennifer Saunders. Sounds like a good team.
Finally, a couple of new drama's are underway. One is Ripper Street, an 8-part costume drama that takes place in 1889 Whitechapel 6 months after Jack the Ripper tore it up. The other is a 10-part drama called Mr. Selfridge, yet another costume drama, about the founder of the famous innovative store which opened on Oxford Street about 103 years ago. It will probably end in mid-March.
I probably forgot about a few things, but that's life.

Here's one I forgot - also in Canada, Murdoch Mysteries returns for a 13-episode 6th series which should end around the end of March.

Another one I forgot to mention, also out of Canada, is the return of Bomb Girls for a second series. This time it'll run for 12 episodes and come to an end on March 20.
