Dear Mother.....Love Albert

Dear Mother....Love Albert is a sitcom that debuted in September 1969 and was a project that not only starred Rodney Bewes (The Likely Lads), but was also conceived and usually written and produced by him. He even sang the theme song. It also featured Garfield Morgan (No Job For A Lady, The Nineteenth Hole, You Must Be The Husband, The Sweeney) and Liz Gebhardt (Please Sir!, The Fenn Street Gang). The first series was produced by Thames and that along with 3 short Christmas specials made for ITV's All Star Comedy Carnival have been wiped or lost. The 20 surviving episodes are from Series 2, 3 and 4 that were produced by Yorkshire. Series 3 is in black & white because the colour technicians were on strike at the time it was produced and the name had been shortened to simply Albert! for Series 4. During the years 1969-1972 the show was always one of the Top 10 rated programs.
