Jericho

Jericho starred Robert Lindsay of Get Some In!/Citizen Smith/Nightingales/My Family fame.
It was a period (1950's) crime drama. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jericho_%28UK_TV_series%29 Protagonist: Jericho....antagonist: Christie....hmmmm

Five Days

Five Days was a BBC crime drama. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Five_Days Hunter, which also appears on Drama Smörgåsbord Disc 3, was a spinoff so I included it here to fill out the disc. It's been reported that there will be another series at some point called Five Days II.

First Among Equals

First Among Equals was a 1986 Granada political drama about the careers of 4 members of Parliament from their beginning in the early 60's to slightly into the future of the late 80's. Originally presented in 10 50-minute episodes, this is from a VHS release where the episodes were combined as shown. This was released on DVD last year and I'm hoping eventually it'll turn up from that source.

Emma

Emma The TV adaptation of the classic Jane Austen novel. I believe this is slated to be broadcast on PBS Masterpiece at some point.

Dalgliesh

Dalgliesh is the character Commander Adam Dalgliesh of the London Metro Police as played by Roy Marsden except for the 21st century version on Disc 7 by Martin Shaw. Dalgliesh is a gentleman detective, poet, sufferer, is sensitive, drives a Jag, and has all the common attributes of the fantasy world that flows from the pen held in the feminine hand. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adam_Dalgliesh This series was also broadcast in the US on PBS' Mystery!

Second Sight

Second Sight was a crime drama about a British inspector detective chief (who was a "rogue cop" of course because it's the fantasy world of TV) who discovers he is suffering from a rare disease which will make him lose his vision. Starring Clive Owen and Claire Skinner. Some may recall this one on PBS Mystery!

Boys From The Blackstuff

Boys From The Blackstuff began life as an episode on the BBC's Play For Today which waited over a year to be broadcast (it was fimed in 1978). The storyline is tough times in Liverpool. One of the characters was spun off into The Muscle Market which was shown on Film 4 Today in 1981. The last 5 are the BBC television series of 1982. All were written by Alan Bleasdale. One of the actors is Bernard Hill http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bernard_Hill who certainly has an impressive list of credits.

Coronation Street - Disc 6

Coronation Street another 24 episodes from the 70's http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coronation_Street
Here's something to ponder. If all the episodes of Coro or Corrie were available and you wanted to watch them all at one a day, if they ceased production of new episodes right now it would still take you about 20 years.

Armchair Theatre

Armchair Theatre was a long running anthology program that produced a wide variety of drama plays by many well known, and some not so well known, writers and actors. 457 shows were produced between 1956 and 1969 and there was a DVD release recently featuring some of the classic episodes, but I don't believe any of the 31 episodes here appear on that release.

Heartbeat - finis!

Heartbeat - Discs 31, 32, 33 and the end of the line. Please note that the last 9 episodes (found on Disc 33) have not been broadcast in the UK as of yet. However, they were broadcast on Sweden's Channel 4 so those episodes have Swedish subtitles. Rumour has it ITV is trying to sell the program to another network and have witheld those 9 episodes as a bargaining chip. If they don't sell it who knows if they'll ever be broadcast in the UK at all? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heartbeat_%28TV_series%29

Crossroads - Disc 8

Crossroads - Disc 8, another 22 episodes of the popular soap. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crossroads_%28TV_series%29

Health & Efficiency

Health & Efficiency was written by Andrew Marshall during the same time he was writing 2point4 Children. This one had a great cast: Gary Olsen (2point4 Children, Pilgrim's Rest), Victor McGuire (Bread, Goodnight Sweetheart), Roger Lloyd Pack (Only Fools And Horses, Vicar Of Dibley, The Old Guys), Felicity Montagu (I'm Alan Partridge, Nighty Night), Deborah Norton (Yes Prime Minister, A Bit Of Fry & Laurie). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Health_and_Efficiency_%28TV_series%29
