Dag - Disc 1

Dag is a Norwegian somewhat-black comedy-drama series about a marriage counselor who thinks people should live in solitude. He hates spending time with other people, except with his friend Benedict who is struggling to be faithful in his own relationship. Dags life changes when his well-meaning sister, Marianne, forces him to go on his nineteenth blind-date with her old childhood friend, Eva.

An Klondike + Résistance

Couple of new drama's.

An Klondike
Colin in New Zealand provided us with the first NZ western awhile back (Good For Nothing on Smorg 90). Now we have an Irish western, only this one isn't cowboys and whoopee-tai-yi-yo. It takes place in the 1890's in the mining camps of Montana and Yukon. A lot of the dialogue is in English, but many of the Irish speak Irish among themselves......as they actually would have. This has received positive reviews. My only nitpick is they are the cleanest looking miners and prospectors living in the wilderness I've ever seen. They must have had a great laundry service back then.
article in the Irish Examiner

Résistance is a French big-budget mini-series from last year. Well done.....I don't think I can ever watch 'Allo 'Allo! again without feeling a little guilty when laughing. I was trying to find a review to share, but can't find one.

Stingers - Discs 1 - 4

Discs 1 through 4 (of 16) of Stingers, the Australian 1998-2004 police drama. Starring Peter Phelps (who in more recent times has been in Wonderland, Old School and Underbelly) and Kate Kendall (lately was in a few episodes of The Librarians and has been a regular on Neighbours for the past few years...she was also in a show called Conspiracy 365 which I just discovered I've never posted on here...it fell through the cracks). Those two were in all 192 episodes. A lot of others came and went, including current big names like Rebecca Gibney and Asher Keddie.

Hugh And I

Hugh And I, the 1960's sitcom starring Terry Scott and Hugh Lloyd with Mollie Sugden, Jack Haig, Patricia Hayes. Take your pick: a 720 X 540 high bitrate picture on 2 discs, or all on 1 disc with 640 X 480 resolution and about half the bitrate.

1990

A rare BBC political drama from 1977 starring Edward Woodward and Robert Lang with Barbara Kellerman, Tony Doyle, Clive Swift, Lisa Harrow. (I just saw Lisa Harrow somewhere....where was it?..............oh, right. She's in the current New Zealand comedy-drama Step Dave.)

Major Crimes - Disc 6

Oops......this fell through the cracks about a month ago. I forgot about it.
