Trollied

After an absence of nearly a decade, Sky recently decided to jump back into sitcom production and came up with Trollied. Featuring a pretty solid group of veteran actors, the network has reportedly committed to producing 27 more episodes in the coming couple years. Of course, these things can change (The IT Crowd for example). The setting of Trollied is a supermarket and it's employees. (For those of you in North America, in the UK what you call a "shopping basket" or "shopping cart", they call a "trolley".....and the rear wheels are not fixed so they don't go in a straight line when you push them.) The creator of the show felt a sitcom about a supermarket might work and it hadn't been done before. Guess he wasn't around when Tripper's Day and Slinger's Day were on the box and then there was 2010's Shelfstackers.
Some very recognizable people in this, starting with Jane Horrocks (no need to list her creds...would be too long anyways), Mark Addy (The Thin Blue Line, Sunnyside Farm, the USA show Still Standing, Bonkers, Robin Hood), Jason Watkins (Duck Patrol, All About George, Funland, Five Days, Life And Times Of Vivienne Vyle, Little Dorrit, Murderland, Being Human, Psychoville), Rita May (Fat Friends, Early Doors, Coronation Street), Carl Rice (Massive), Lorraine Cheshire (Early Doors, Tittybangbang) and so on.

The Gold Robbers

The Gold Robbers was a 1969 crime serial.
From an internet site:

This dynamic and tightly scripted drama centres on the search for the perpetrators of a multi-million-pound gold bullion robbery; Peter Vaughan stars as the C.I.D. officer doggedly tracking down all those who hold clues to the identity of the mastermind behind the raid. Vaughan’s strong performance is supported by some of the key dramatic actors of the late ‘60s, including Joss Ackland, Alfred Lynch, George Cole, Bernard Hepton, George Innes, Roy Dotrice and Peter Bowles. Arthur Butler, the former Scotland Yard officer who had worked on the investigation into the Great Train Robbery, acted as technical adviser on the series, and it earned acclaimed producer and screenwriter John Hawkesworth (Upstairs, Downstairs) a BAFTA nomination for Best Drama Series; among a celebrated team of writers were former Z Cars contributors Alan Prior and Eric Coltart.

Paul Temple

Paul Temple, a private detective slash crime novelist, began as a BBC radio serial in 1938 and made many returns right up through the 60's as well as several recent remakes. Four films were also made in the late 40's / early 50's and over a dozen novels have also appeared in the past 73 years. The character also had a large following in Germany with many German radio serials produced as well as an animated series.
The TV program was co-produced by BBC and German broadcaster ZDF. 64 episodes were aired from 1969 to 1971 but only 11 episodes survive today.

Fresh Meat

Fresh Meat is, according to Channel 4, a comedy-drama.
Wiki says this:
"Fresh Meat is a British sitcom created by Jesse Armstrong and Sam Bain, who also created Peep Show. Fresh Meat marks the acting debut of comedian Jack Whitehall and also stars Kimberley Nixon (Cranford) and Joe Thomas (The Inbetweeners). The show revolves around the lives of six students who are freshers (with the exception of Howard) at the fictional Manchester Medlock University. They live in a shared house off-campus rather than university halls of residence."

Rab C. Nesbitt update

Rab C. Nesbitt was back again. Rab has now been around for a long time, going back some 25 years to the sketch show Naked Video. He still has a ways to go to pass Alf Garnett in the longevity column though. I believe it was over 33 years between the Comedy Playhouse pilot for Till Death Us Do Part and the Australian show The Thoughts of Chairman Alf.
Anyways, the 10th series of the Scottish sitcom ended last week. I was able to upgrade some of the files while at the same time reducing the number of discs (the Series 8 files I had were huge for some reason).
I'd still like to get this with hard coded subtitles someday, but I don't have all the episodes that way and still haven't been able to sort that process out anyways. But for those of you that understand the Glaswegian dialect, here's Rab from A to Z, including the 1992 Live in Aberdeen performance.
