The Jury

In what must be a record for the longest hiatus, The Jury returned this week for a second series nearly 10 years after the first. (Come to think of it, I believe The Rag Trade was brought back after 15 years on the shelf and The Liver Birds after 16
+ years...so no broken records here.) Starring Julie Walters among other familiar faces. Series 1 was aired in the US on PBS Masterpiece. I have no idea if they'll be carrying Series 2.

they're back

A few comedies from mid-2010 have returned for second series. PhoneShop and Him And Her haven't worked their way into my viewing rotation yet, but another that returned starting tonight which did is Rev. I enjoyed series 1 and thought it had a really good cast (Tom Hollander & Olivia Colman with Lucy Liemann and Steve Evets). Pete vs Life is also back for another round.

Limmy's Show + The Morgana Show

Here's a couple of sketch shows that fell through the cracks.

Brian Limond's Limmy's Show returned to BBC Two Scotland last winter for a second series.

Nearly a year ago now Morgana Robinson brought her comic talents to Channel 4 for five nights with her The Morgana Show.

Crownies - Disc 2

Crownies  - Disc 2.  Crownies is a current Australian legal drama-comedy. Our Timaru correspondent reports in that the 9 episodes on Disc 1 were very good.

Underbelly: Razor

Razor, the new series of the popular Australian true-crime drama program Underbelly, concluded earlier today. I was really hoping this would fit onto one disc, but it won't, so I'm adding the recent New Zealand Underbelly series Land of the Long Green Cloud to the second disc.

Downton Abbey - Disc 2

Downton Abbey's second series came to an end tonight but I believe there is going to be a Christmas special next month. It is now the most successful UK costume drama since Brideshead Revisited of 30 years ago, a fact sort of interesting to me as I have never traded a single disc of Brideshead that I can recall despite it also finding great success on PBS in these parts as well.

The Vice

The Vice was yet another crime show. This one was about the London vice squad and starred Ken Stott (Your Cheatin' Heart, Takin' Over The Asylum, Rebus, The Runaway, his great role as Tony Hancock in Hancock & Joan, and will be in the two forthcoming films on The Hobbit), Caroline Catz (Preston Front, Doc Martin....yes, kind of hard imaging dear Looweezerrrr as a cop, but she also played one in The Bill and Murder In Suburbia), Tim Pigott-Smith (Winston Churchill: The Wilderness Years, The Jewel In The Crown, The Chief, North & South, Holby Blue, The Hour), David Harewood (Agony, Fat Friends, The Palace, The Last Enemy), Marc Warren (Ghostbusters Of East Finchley, Oliver Twist, Band Of Brothers, State Of Play, Hustle, Mutual Friends, Mad Dogs).
