Two comedies have returned.
Channel 4 comedy Drifters returned for a second series.
and US comedy Hello Ladies, starring British actor/writer/director Stephen Merchant, was not brought back for another series despite a favorable reception, but returned with a feature-length film to wrap up the story.

An Bronntanas + Bannan
An Bronntanas translates to The Gift and began life earlier this year as a film that made the rounds at various film festivals. Over the past five weeks it was aired on television re-edited into five episodes.
It's an Irish drama-thriller filmed in Connemara. Most of the dialogue is in Irish with hard-coded English subtitles. American actor John Finn (Cold Case) has one of the major roles.
I couldn't find an English title for the 2nd episode, but an Irish cousin of mine says it roughly translates to "a relationship that will not be denied".
An Bronntanas
Bannan is a 3-part Scottish drama filmed on the Isle of Skye. It has Scottish Gaelic dialogue with hard-coded English subtitles. The last time I was on Skye you still had to take a boat to get there. The first time I got out of the car I was immediately swarmed by midges that were up my nostrils, in my ears, in my mouth, my eyes........not very welcoming. A stop at the Talisker distillery soon smoothed things over though. In my experience it's one of the best single malts to be found anywhere.

Mister Magoo 1949 - 1962
The complete run of Mister Magoo cartoons produce for theatrical release by UPA for Columbia Pictures from 1949 tp 1959 when they ended it with the feature-length 1001 Arabian Nights. Mister Magoo returned, this time on TV, a week before Christmas 1962 with his Christmas Carol, which became an annual holiday favorite here in the US for many years along with A Charlie Brown Christmas in 1965 and How The Grinch Stole Christmas in 1966.

Not In Front Of The Children + That's My Boy!
Not In Front Of The Children was a sitcom that ran for 37 episodes in the late 1960's. It was the first of what turned out to be a trilogy of shows featuring Wendy Craig as a harried mother and wife (except she started off the second one, And Mother Makes Three, as a widow and the third one, Butterflies, was really a comedy-drama more than a sitcom). Unfortunately, only 8 episodes survive today.
Not in Front of the Children
That's My Boy! was a one-series sitcom that ran in 1963 starring Jimmy Clitheroe and was a TV adaptation of his very popular radio comedy, The Clitheroe Kid, which aired from 1957 to 1972 when Jimmy did himself in on the day of his mother's funeral. Jimmy was a man that never grew up. He was only 4'3" and was in his early 40's when this was filmed but had no problem playing the role of an 11 year old very convincingly. Derek Guyler of Please Sir! and Sykes fame played his father in this. After this show ran it spun off into another show called Just Jimmy. About 50 episodes were aired between 1964 and 1968 and, amazingly!, only one survives today - an episode called A Match For Jim. There is no good information "out there" on Just Jimmy and I have no idea when it is from, but it's the last file on the disc. Ironically, Mollie Sugden played his mother in Just Jimmy and in the early 80's she starred in her own sitcom called That's My Boy (no exclamation mark).
Jimmy Clitheroe
I've got quite a few episodes of The Clitheroe Kid as .mp3 files. I keep meaning to do some work on them. Clean them up with a Rane ME 60 equalizer. One of these days. Add it to the to way-too-long to do list.

Castles In The Sky is a bio-film about Robert Watson-Watt and his team that struggled to invent and sell the British military on radar in the early days of WWII. Starring Eddie Izzard.
We've long enjoyed so-called spaghetti westerns and now here's a new kiwi western....a New Zealand western called Good For Nothing. This has received many very favorable reviews. A lot of this was filmed in Otago which is where Colin is originally from and it was he that sent this film along for us.
Jimmy's Hall is an Irish film about Jimmy Gralton.
If There Weren't Any Blacks You'd Have To Invent Them.....yes, the title sounds pretty bad in these over-the-top PC days, but it's 2 versions of a teleplay by Johnny Speight who created and wrote Till Death Us Do Part, the inspiration for the USA's All in the Family. Johnny didn't promote racism and sexism, he mocked them. The first one appeared on TV 4 August 1968 in black & white. On 3 March 1974 a new production, in color, appeared on LWT with Bob Hoskins, Leonard Rossiter and Richard Beckinsale, with the latter two just about to begin work on their successful sitcom Rising Damp.

Harbour Lights
Harbour Lights is a 2-series 1999-ish drama set in coastal Dorset starring Nick Berry of EastEnders and Heartbeat fame. The link below is for a tourism website but it has the most detailed information on the show that I could find.
The Blacklist
The Blacklist has returned for a second season of a reported 22 episodes. After 8 episodes there are reports that it is now on hiatus and won't be returning until February. So consider this a temporary disc in case you don't wish to wait until next March.

Grantchester + The Divide
Grantchester is a new period detective drama set in 1950's Cambridgeshire (where all the women have very stylish 1950's hair styles, but the men, children and extras all appear to favor futuristic 21st century do's! Who knew?) Based on The Grantchester Mysteries books that feature an Anglican vicar (James Norton) as an amateur detective aided by real detective Keating (played by Robson Green) and his trusty housekeeper Mrs. Maguire (played by Tessa Peake-Jones). Hmmm....kind of sounds vaguely familiar.......I know! It's a Protestant Father Brown.
The Divide is, or was, a legal drama. Judging by the odd 21st century Hollywood accents the actors use, I would say this is an American show which aired on We TV, whatever that is.

Party Tricks + The Best Laid Plans
Two drama / comedy series both about politics. One from Australia and one from Canada.
Party Tricks stars Asher Keddie (Offspring, Love My Way, Underbelly: A Tale of Two Cities) and Rodger Corser (Puberty Blues, McLeod's Daughters, Underbelly, Rush, Spirited and was also in a recent American show {NBC} called Camp).
The Best Laid Plans features Mark McKinney (The Kids in the Hall, Saturday Night Live, Hatching Matching and Dispatching, Slings and Arrows), Kenneth Welsh (Twin Peaks, The Divide), and others......
I've just mentioned shows like Love My Way, McLeod's Daughters, The Divide....I have them but haven't gotten around to putting them up here yet......if anyone's interested.

Luv
Writer Carla Lane had about a 25 year run of comedies. She wrote, or co-wrote, about 25 episodes of Bless This House, and created and wrote other shows such as The Liver Birds, Bread, Butterflies, Solo, Screaming and The Mistress......all of them about dysfunctional people incapable of maintaining healthy relationships and unable to escape their burdens. Here's another one - starring Sue Johnston (Brookside, Full Stretch, Duck Patrol, Sex Chips & Rock 'n' Roll, My Uncle Silas, Little Dorrit, Jam & Jerusalem, Waking The Dead, The Royle Family, Gates, Sugartown, Being Eileen, Coronation Street...and as I type this she's on TV in tonight's Downton Abbey) and Michael Angelis (The Liver Birds, Boys From The Black Stuff, G.B.H., September Song, Good Cop and longtime narrator of Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends).
Downton Abbey - Disc 5 temporary
Downton Abbey's fifth series has ended, but there will be a Christmas special added to the disc in about 7 weeks. If you don't wish to wait until then, here it is.
The Royal
I had a nice complete set of this 2003 - 2011 Yorkshire drama, but lost it a few years ago when a hard drive in a server went down without copying the data to the open drive first. I know I recovered it from one of you out there and even had added updated Series 1 DVD rips. However, it seems to have vanished from all the drives. I have recovered about 80-81 of the 87 episodes, but a lot of them are not even "good" quality. So, once again, if anyone out there ever got that set from me and would like to make a trade, get in touch.

Doctor Who - The Twelfth Doctor
It's been a year and a half since any new Doctor Who discs have gone up here and a few people have asked me about it, so here's all the material from the past year. Please note that there is going to be a Christmas special and it will be going on Disc 2 and closing that out.
If you don't want to wait another 7 weeks for that, here 'tis......as Bo Diddley used to sing.

Peaky Blinders
British period crime drama Peaky Blinders has returned for a second series.....starring Irish actor Cillian Murphy and New Zealander Sam Neill. My neighbor, Nottingham native Wenda, gives it 4¼ stars on the Wenda Scale.
Over the past few years the quality of yahoo's e-mail service has been spiraling down to the point where nearly every day it's down for a few hours and the format has been changed so it's much less user-friendly. You may want to contact me using the same ID but at gmail instead of yahoo.

Mount Pleasant - Disc 4
As we near the half-way point of the 20-teens decade, it's very noticeable how comedy-drama shows have all but disappeared from British TV (joining the demise of comedy sketch and comedy variety shows). If it wasn't for Sky it would be very slim pickings and even they pulled the plug on Starlings and The Cafe after two series. Stella will be back in January and Doc Martin is supposedly returning for a final series in about a year. Great Night Out was cancelled after one series and Channel 4 seems to have lost interest in Fresh Meat and there's no word on if Being Eileen or Love & Marriage are ever returning, which leaves Mount Pleasant....which just returned for a fourth series. Mount Pleasant's attempt at heavy drama in the last episode was a bit lame though.
