The Best of Men
Entertaining drama about the birth of the Paralympics in 1948. The remarkable Dr Guttmann comes to Stoke Mandeville Hospital and begins to tranform the lives of his patients. They are paralysed soldiers, written off and facing death from neglect. Their big breakthrough comes when Guttmann introduces sport into their rehabilitation.
Eddie Marsan
Ruth Rendell's 13 Steps Down (Parts 1 & 2)....first new Ruth Rendell TV adaptation in about 10 years.
Thirteen Steps Down
Derek....is a short film by Ricky Gervais that served as a pilot. Someone liked it and it is being developed into a series to be aired sometime next year.
Derek
a few short films that aired at the start of the Olympics:
A Running Jump
Among the many special commissions for London 2012 are four short films from leading British directors: Mike Leigh, Asif Kapadia, Lynne Ramsay and Max and Dania. The brief was to make a film inspired by the Olympics, and as you’d expect from the names involved, they’ve responded to the Games in very different ways - using settings from an inner city housing estate to rural rivers and lakes - and drawing on a variety of genres - from a colourful comedy full of tracksuits and trainers to a documentary exploring London’s political and social issues.
Written and directed by Mike Leigh for the London 2012 Festival, this sports-infused comedy follows a man trying to buy a second-hand car in east London. With Lee Ingleby and Eddie Marsan
What If?
A rendering of Rudyard Kipling's If, What If is a short film that tells the story of a boy from a crime-ridden inner city estate who learns fundamental life lessons on nobility, patience, generosity, and how to become an admirable young man.
Swimmer
A man's isolated passage, swimming through open water, is accompanied by snatches of movie soundtracks and references.

Ladies of Letters - radio
Back in 1988, as an episode of the excellent Alan Bennett series Talking Heads, Patricia Routledge (Keeping Up Appearances, Hetty Wainthropp Investigates) first appeared in the role of Vera Small in A Lady of Letters. Based on a series of books by Carole Hayman and Lou Wakefield, a radio program, Ladies of Letters, was launched 9 years later with Routledge once again as Vera Small and Prunella Scales (Fawlty Towers, After Henry, Mapp & Lucia) as Irene Spencer. Since then, a total of 71 radio shows have been aired in 11 series spanning 14 years.
In 2009-2010 a 20 episode TV adaptation was aired with Anne Reid as Vera and Maureen Lipman as Irene and Reid also played Vera in the most recent radio program when Routledge was unavailable. (I enjoyed the TV show very much.) Anyway, here is the complete 71 episode radio program in mp3 format, over 16 hours of entertainment.

Ab Fab + Dead Boss + Parents + Walking & Talking
some recent comedy......
Absolutely Fabulous returned for Christmas and New Year's Day and a recent Olympics episode. Nice to see the cast together again and very nice to see June Whitfield, a true pioneer and mainstay of classic British TV comedy, who is a few months away from celebrating her 87th birthday.
Dead Boss is the first series of a new Sharon Horgan comedy. Speaking of Ab Fab, Jennifer Saunders turns up in Dead Boss as does Caroline Quentin. I'd say it's a safe bet this one will be back next year.
Dead Boss
Parents is a new comedy with Sally Phillips (Fist of Fun, Smack the Pony, Hippies, Jam & Jerusalem, Miranda, Hyperdrive, Green Wing), Tom Conti (nope...not going to do it. too long) and Susie Blake (Mrs. Brown's Boys, Coronation Street, Roger Roger, A Prince Among Men, Singles, Victoria Wood As Seen On TV).
Parents
Walking and Talking is a new autobiographical comedy written by Kathy Burke (whoops...there's that Ab Fab connection again).
